Nafile Kurban - Voluntary Kurban
Below you will find information on Volunteer Kurban (Nafile Kurban).
Nafila Qurban
VOLUNTARY KURBAN
All sacrificial animals that are slaughtered outside of the festival of sacrifice (Eid al-Adha) are considered to be voluntary kurban. They can be sacrificed for different purposes, e.g. Adaq, Aqiqa, Shifa.
Adaq
The intention is to sacrifice an animal when a certain event occurs. Example: "I will sacrifice an animal if my project succeeds." Or: "I will sacrifice an animal if I should later have a house, a car, etc." The sacrificial animal that is slaughtered after the event has occurred (successfully) is called Adaq.
Aqiqa
A sacrificial animal is slaughtered to thank Allah for the birth of a child and is mustahabb (recommended). It can be slaughtered at any time after the birth, but it is recommended to do it on the seventh day. It is Sunnah to sacrifice 2 animals for a male child and 1 animal for a female child.
Shifa
This sacrificial animal is slaughtered for the recovery of the sick.
